Maple Story - Ant Tunnel |
] |
At my school, there was a career fair. And at the career fair, there was a company offering to give an aptitude test to qualify for a job. I made time on my calendar and took the test.
If this test is going to accurately judge what the job will be like, then I will probably be bored out of my mind. The test was simple enough that I could probably have taken it while standing on one hand and juggling chainsaws with the other while blindfolded. However, it might be nice to have a job that is simple and gives a steady paycheck.
They have my e-mail, and I am waiting to see if they respond.

You have heard about my bad hard drive.
Today, I went to get it exchanged. Since prices had gone down since then, I was able to get a 100 GB hard drive for $80, in place of the 80 GB hard drive I bought for $100.
Then I tested it, and it didn't work. So I searched online for details, and found it was probably a computer issue. I then took it to another computer and tested it, and it worked!
So yeah, I win. :D

Okay. This makes me angry.
On Tuesday, everyone was saying that Hurricane Rita was going to come and pound Corpus Christi flat. So everything just shut down. People dashed back and forth like heads with their chickens cut off, people left the city in droves, and just about every store you can imagine closed. Also, most importantly, the colleges closed.
Then, on Wednesday night, we find out that the hurricane is not coming at us at all. Instead, it's going north, presumably so it can hang out with Katrina in hurricane heaven. However, everything is still closed until Saturday or Sunday. Meaning if you want something besides the bare essentials, you're SOL.
It was a good thing that the hurricane veered off, though, because my mother had the worst evacuation plan since Moses sent his people wandering for 40 years. She would have had my entire family, including my grandmother, packed into a minivan with our two large dogs. To avoid spending money for a motel, we would go west to find a Wal-Mart parking lot out of the way of the hurricane, and then we'd sleep in the minivan for however long it took for the city to reopen. And there was no way for any of the people with objections (namely, the rest of the family) to convince her that this was a bad idea.
In other news, I bet at least 5 out of 10 bars now have drinks called "Hurricane-ritas".

The quiz that was seen in a friend's LJ!
Si... Silicon You scored 46 Mass, 34 Electronegativity, 24 Metal, and 0 Radioactivity! | Interesting. Take a bunch of really common person-elements and throw them together to get something truely exceptional... that's you. You are probably someone that gave up on trying to understand society at large a long time ago. You don't fear it, but you don't try to be one with it either. You are more or less unperturbed by things... if a problem comes up you might deal with it, or you might avoid it... whatever. You don't take kindly to people pushing you around, and you don't really push anyone else around. You're probably the only one that can tame oxygen simply because you don't understand it's raging neediness, but that doesn't mean that you'll really enjoy having a tame oxygen hanging around all that much either. You can probably get along with people like yourself really well, but you aren't your own soulmate... if only they could make entire colonies of people like you you'd be stoked. Just like you don't understand society, society doesn't understand you... and yes that is my excuse for not knowing how to describe you better. | |
My test tracked 4 variables How you compared to other people your age and gender: | You scored higher than 73% on Mass | | You scored higher than 57% on Electroneg | | You scored higher than 4% on Metal | | You scored higher than 0% on Radioactivity |

I'm not having a very good day by comparison.
1. My USB hard drive, which my grandmother bought for me, is not working. Serves me right for trusting a no-name brand. (It's a Maxtor PS3100 if anyone is wondering).
2. My waistpack is falling apart, with one of the zippers failing completely. Unfortunately, it's one that bisects the waistpack, and thus if I didn't keep it secured with Velcro constantly, it would flap open.

Another thing I never thought I would say to anyone:
"Ma'am, is that your orange?"
I said it today, and no, you don't get the context. Nyah.

First off, I made a livejournal color scheme. This one recalls the wondrous days of the monochrome monitor, and incidentally reduces eyestrain.
Secondly, I entered into negotiations to perform a job for one of my father's friends. I am to make a contract signing system for them, and also a way to automate web page creation for insurance agents.

This is my livejournal, suitable for angst, bad spelling, and drama.
And I'll put some up as soon as my life becomes interesting.
